my first runnings this time around


so monday i started running again after my 2 week break.  i decided to jump right back in with 5 miles.  unfortunately, i went a little later than planned and almost passed out in the heat.  all in all, it was a pretty good run considering.  when i ran today (at 7:45, whoohoo--not a morning person btw), my shoes rubbed my ankle and it bled.  i also got a blister on my foot.  i had no issues with these shoes on monday so i do not know what is up.  o, btw, i guess it is important to note that i got new shoes, so i need to break them in.  ouch  :(  the pinkish ones are for running, the red ones are for working out.  tho i may also break in my red ones for running as well, just in case.


anyways, when i was about halfway through my run i was like "i wish someone would pass me so i can run with them".  literally 10 seconds later, 2 people pass me doing perfect 11 minute miles!!!  so i followed them the rest of the way.  did wonders for my time  :)

so i decided to measure and weigh myself every wednesday.  i regret that i did not do it back when i started running a couple months ago to see how i progressed and improved.  so now is like my second chance to do so.  lol, not that i gained all that much weight and flab during my 2 week hiatus!  so my belly button measurement is 32 inches, my hips are 34.5, and my chest is 29.5.  i do not know if i measured in the spots you are supposed to, but i figure it doesn't matter as long as i measure the same place every week  :)  i weigh 121.  i think that the scale was being generous, but again, the same scale will be used every week so at least the wieght loss or gain will be accurate.  i am not too concerned with losing really, id like to lose fat but gain more muscle mass, so yeah.  and there you go, thats it for now :)  wish me luck with my blister filled run tomorrow morning.

the start of something new

well, maybe not so new.  i started running on september 29, 2008, but i just came off of a 2 week break.  i figured after a year of excuses and putting it off, it was time to start exercising.  running started off as a sorta easy way to do some cardio- put on shoes, run out door.  i started by running 2 miles straight through...it was very slow, but i did not stop.  2 slowly turned into 3.  then 3 made a jump to 5 when the park closed down and i had to run around the golf course instead.  then running was not just a way to lose weight.  it was a way to relax, to think, to blow off steam.  it was something to work on, improve upon, make goals with.  i am now training for a half marathon (13.1 miles) and so i want to keep track of my training.  along with running, i have decided to try out tae bo and incorporate some weight training as well.
